Southwest Training Resources was founded in 2003 by John Reed. John, the youngest of 5 children, grew up in the small West Texas town of Lorenzo. He is a graduate of Angelo State University and the Texas Tech School of Banking. After serving 20 years in two banks with branches throughout Texas and New Mexico, John saw a need to offer training and educational services to community and regional banks that, although in need of top-notch training programs, could not justify the overhead expense of an on-staff, full-time training professional.
John's experience includes the establishment of training programs for both of the financial institutions in which he has been associated. He has been fortunate to manage several functions in the banking environment, including Branch Support and Delivery, New Accounts, Customer Service, Proof and Item Processing, Special Services, Deposit Documentation and Legal Issues, as well as the training function. He also was greatly involved in acquisition and and consolidation training for the financial institutions he has served. John has the gift of quickly developing a positive rapport with employees, thereby allowing for maximum learning results.
John is a Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer and is a current member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). John and his wife Debbie make their home in Lubbock, Texas. They have three children, Aimee, Tae and Kailee - and are the proud grandparents of Carson Richardson (who lives with his parents Kevin and Aimee in St. Louis, Missouri).
